The Way Forward: 2011

Our Strategic Plan going forward is Titled "MAKING A DIFFERENCE" and encompasses the following pertinent factors:-
  1. Having been constituted, structured, manned and operational with +/-170 paid up Members at the end of its first year of operations, a Strategic Business Plan and a Cash Flow Forecast & Budget have been prepared and set in motion.

  2. These clearly set the Plans & Goals going forward, around which our activities and operations will be centered.

  3. Bearing in mind our Motto, our Vision and Mission, cognisance has been taken that the Chamber sees itself foremost as a facilitator of Business Opportunities, as well as promoting the regeneration and revival of Business Growth and Development. This in turn generates employment.

  4. Accordingly, Chamber will continue to forge, foster and promote strategic alliances with key organizations and associations that together are responsible for the general well being of both Businesses and Residents in the Town of Knysna. These include the Knysna Municipality (KEDA), the Knysna Development Forum, the Knysna Ratepayers Association, the Community Police Forum and organizations that provide relief and assistance to those in need.

  5. These alliances extend to the Business Chambers in our neighbouring towns in the Eden District as well as to SACCI and those in RSA’s Towns and Cities. Similarly Red Door, Seda & Wesgro.

  6. From the above, projects and specific initiatives will be engaged and driven once Chamber has satisfied itself that these are likely to be sustainable and viable and produce lasting beneficial results to all concerned.

  7. It should be noted that the KCB is strictly apolitical and thus bears allegiance only to its members, associates, suppliers and those with whom it engages in the promotion of its goals and aims, all related to Business.

    8. Similarly, it is (a goal) and hoped that all Sections of the Knysna Business Community will embrace and engage with the KCB as their mouthpiece and facilitator. In this regard a warm hand of welcome and constructive expertise is extended.
  8. It is pertinent to note that our Chamber, along with the many around the Country & Internationally are all engaged in and share a common purpose. To promote Business Opportunities in all facets and thus generate employment amongst all Sections of the Community. Thus it is, that your Chamber and others believe in the proven notion that it is the Private Sector that drives Business and creates Employment Opportunities, whilst it is Government’s task to provide the infrastructure, services and conditions conducive to Business Growth and Development.

  9. In this regard it is noted and your Chamber accepts and supports the many projects and initiatives currently under review for the upliftment, regeneration and improvement of the previously impoverished and underdeveloped Townships. However, existing Businesses in and around Knysna play a pivotal role in the incomes and employment opportunities to all Township Residents to the point that both have become interdependent as they are around the World. The KCB therefore is the forum within which all Sections of the Community should engage to ensure sustainable and viable economic activity and growth.
